Stolen Archive file 13: Secret correspondence between Mary Shelley and her publisher

Dear Mrs. Shelley,
I am writing to confirm the receipt of your urgent letter. We have not yet begun to print "Frankenstein," but are scheduled to start tomorrow. It is highly irregular to make a change this late. However, the tone of your letter suggests that this correction means a great deal to you, therefore I will make the adjustments.
I must say that I was surprised by the arrival of your letter. I found it rather frightening when a hooded figure approached me on the street holding a letter. Why could you not send it through the post?
I shall add the strange lines about the "drams of forgotten alchimists" and the others, although I have no idea what they mean. I will also honour your equally strange request to keep Lord Byron away from the printing premises. You certainly keep strange company.
Yours Sincerely,
J. Harding

Mayor & Jones
