[edit] Card 44

[edit] Summary

In the colony of Massachusetts from 1692 to 1693, more than 150 people were accused of witchcraft. Nineteen of the accused were found guilty and executed. While everyone else was gasping in horror, the Lucians saw this witchhunt as an opportunity to get rid of enemies. To this day, no one knows how many of the 19 so-called witches killed were victims of mass hysteria and how many were targeted by the Lucians.

[edit] Top Secret

16 November 1692

Dear honoured Sirs,

I write to tell you that our plan has worked extremely well. There are no more Cahills in Salem besides the Lucians. In the past year, we accused nearly all our rivals of witchcraft. I am pleased to report that we have hanged two Ekats, three Tomas, and, most recently, five Janus.

The fear of witches is spreading like wildfire. I will not rest until I have eliminated all our enemies in the New World.

To the glory of the Lucians!

Your obedient servant,
William Stoughton
Chief Magistrate
Salem Town
