Janus settlers brought a Clue with them to the Anerican colonies - a Clue the Lucians wanted. So the Lucians, who were powerful in government, spread rumors that the Janus were witches in order to eliminate them and steal the Clue, which they took back to their Paris stronghold. A century later, Janus agent Thomas Jefferson traveled to Paris and stole it back. He hid it in Monticello, his mountaintop home, and didn't tell anyone - including close friend Abigail Adams.
