~Vienna
A quiet few days here in Vienna, mostly taken up with family business and music. It seems there's a marvelous singer or magnificent orchestra on every corner! Last night I saw a wonderful ballet set to Strauss waltzes, and tomorrow I have tickets to The Magic Flute at the Staatsoper. My contact wants to meet at the Jaegerball on Thursday, so I got fitted for a dirndl today, which was more comfortable than I expected. Afterward I needed a change of scenery so I hopped the U-bahn to St. Marx Cemetery.
(sketch of Mozart's tombstone & stone cherub)
Dear Mozart is buried there; his original grave site was "lost" many years ago - or so the poor fools think - but they've established quite a beautiful memorial to make up for it. It was so pleasant that I sat and sketched a bit before picking some flowers to take to the real grave. The red petals looked lovely against the mud. Delicious schnitzel and potatoes for dinner; apple strudel and coffee at Café Frauenhuber later.
